Irie lost his mother in rural Mississippi at age 5 and moved to Milwaukee  at age 7 Irie loved North Division High and especially the long list of deep and long time friendships developed there

Irie Lettered in basketball, achieved All-Conference and All-State All-State four years at Carroll and is among the school's all time leading scorers. Irie was MVP three years and elected Little All-American and named Named to National Amateur All-American team in 1969

Irie was a highly successful financial advisor for over 40 years and was induced into the Equitable Life Assurance Society in 1984. Irie used his business success to frequently support North Division High School students and alumni
